I bought a couple of green Philippine mangoes last Thursday with the intention of turning them into a green mango shake but by the time Saturday rolled in and I finally remembered my plans of making a smoothie, the mangoes were already beginning to ripen and yellow. They were still, however, very firm and tart and just perfect for a refreshing drink.
I blended the mango chunks with a dose of simple syrup, about 1/2 cup of evaporated milk and lots of ice. Oh boy, oh boy! It was creamy, tangy and rich in mango flavor, just like drinking summer in a glass!
I prefer evaporated milk in my milkshakes as I like its rich, deep flavor but you can easily swap it with whole milk or even almond milk for a delicious vegan smoothie. Whatever way, this mango shake is a delicious way to beat the heat. Enjoy!
Ingredients
- 2 large Philippine mangoes
- 1/2 cup cold water
- 1/2 cup evaporated milk
- 1/2 cup sugar
- 2 cups ice
Instructions
- Peel mangoes and slice edible flesh from pit. Cut flesh into chunks.
- In a blender. combine mangoes, milk, cold water, and ice. Process until smooth.

Good day, Lalaine. I would like to use this recipe for our school project as I intend to sell mango shakes. How can I adjust the ingredients’ amounts for only one cup of mango shake? Is that what the adjustable quantity of cups above the recipe for? Is that its use? Sorry, I just need to make sure, I am an overthinker and I always want to make sure. Hope you can reply soon!

Thank so much, Dindo. I am glad you enjoyed it. I don’t have ready access to mangoes here in California so I try to make the most of them when they’re in season.
